EWI Awarded State of Missouri UST Investigation/Remediation and Assessment Contract
In November 2009, Environmental Works, Inc. (EWI) was awarded an estimated $3.2 million contract by the State of Missouri to provide underground storage tank (UST) investigation, remediation, and assessment services in regard to petroleum products for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).
More specifically, the contract covers four project categories:
- Tank Closure & Excavation
- Site Characterization
- Corrective Action
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
Contract categories one, two, and three are to be performed according to the current Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action Process (MRBCA) for petroleum storage tanks. The firm has appointed Jason Smith, Principal Scientist and Group Manager of Investigation and Remediation, to direct and supervise the work under the agreement.
EWI received this contract due to their extensive experience in this field. Since 1992, EWI has specialized in a variety of services related to this contract including petroleum storage tank management/closure, investigation/remediation, regulatory negotiation/reporting, and property development services such as Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments. In addition, EWI is well-versed in the federal and state regulations for petroleum storage tank systems. EWI staff maintains close contact and good standing with regulatory agency and tank insurance fund personnel in various states.
This is the second contract EWI has received from the State of Missouri. In 2007, EWI was awarded an estimated $1.5 million contract by the State of Missouri to provide hazardous substance cleanup and disposal services on a statewide level.
