EWI Joins Climate Protection Partnerships in Springfield and Kansas City

Environmental Works, Inc. (EWI) recently joined the Climate Protection Partnership (CPP) programs in Kansas City and Springfield, Missouri and will begin work this year on implementing CPP requirements and developing the firm’s corporate sustainability program.

In 2007, the Greater Kansas City Area Chamber of Commerce developed the CCP program for its members.  Through the program, based on similar programs in Portland, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, Chamber members that joined the CPP pledged to quantifiably measure their environmental sustainability in a baseline year, and then work to improve their sustainability in subsequent years.  In 2009, the Springfield Chamber of Commerce adopted a similar program modeled on the Kansas City program.

In a related development, EWI’s Kansas City office has also joined the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) Air-Q program.  This program shares information with participating employers about Kansas City air quality, so that employees can take steps - such as reducing unnecessary driving, eliminating vehicle idling, fueling vehicles, and mowing lawns in the evening instead of through the day, and other actions - to improve air quality on high-ozone alert days.

Environmental Works, Inc. (EWI) is a full-service, certified woman-owned environmental consulting and contracting firm that has built a strong reputation for providing expert, turnkey solutions to both public and private-sector clients.  EWI was founded in 1992 in Springfield, Missouri by company owner and president, Robin Melton.  The firm quickly became an industry leader with an impressive list of clients including BNSF Railway Company, Bass Pro Shops, Inc., Commerce Bank, Alcatel-Lucent Technologies, Tracker Marine, and a host of other local, regional, and national companies.  The corporate headquarters remains in Springfield, Missouri with regional offices in Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri.
