EWI Receives State and City Brownfields Contracts

In 2009, Environmental Works, Inc. EWI won two government Brownfields contracts.  The Environmental Improvement and Energy Resources Authority (EIERA) awarded EWI the state contract for the Missouri Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (MBRLF).  EWI also received the City of Springfield, Missouri Brownfields Consultant Contract.  The firm has appointed Brian Conrad, Project Manager to direct and supervise the work under both contracts.

Missouri Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (MBRLF) Contract

The Missouri Brownfields RLF Program serves to support brownfield redevelopment throughout the state of Missouri.  The Program is administered by EIERA, a quasi-governmental agency that serves as a financing arm for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).  The Missouri RLF Program allows EIERA to provide low interest loans and sub-grants in support of eligible cleanup activities.  Cleanup projects may range from petroleum remediation, to lead and asbestos abatement, to restoration of mine-scarred lands.  Excluding state entities, any public or private organization is eligible for cleanup loans.  Sub-grants are limited to political subdivisions and non-profit corporations.  EWI’s role under the contract is to perform cleanup alternative studies and develop bid packages for implementation of the cleanup design.

City of Springfield, Missouri Brownfields Consultant Contract

Under the Springfield, Missouri Brownfields Consultant Contract, EWI will provide professional services related to the implementation of brownfields assessment, cleanup, and revolving loan fund grant projects.  These services may include Phase I and II site assessments, quality assurance project plans and health and safety plan preparation, various cleanup planning, project management, community outreach, and brownfield redevelopment-related general consulting services.  Funding for the projects under this contract will be provided by a grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  EWI was awarded this contract due to their broad experience in managing brownfields projects, investigating environmental contamination associated with former petroleum and hazardous substance sites, and conducting cleanup and cleanup planning activities to facilitate brownfields redevelopment.
