SPRINGFIELD, MO – Environmental Works (EWI) plans to complete renovations and relocation to their new, larger office by the end of this year. The move will mark the firm’s fourth office location since its inception in 1992. Renovations and construction on the new office space located at 1455 E. Chestnut Expressway are rapidly progressing.
EWI’s 38 Springfield associates currently work from their 4,800-square-foot office at 1016 W. Battlefield Road, where the environmental consulting firm has functioned the last nine years. The staff will have much more room to work when they move into the newly renovated 30,000-square-foot building on 2.5 acres. Approximately one-third of the building will be converted to office space with the remainder utilized for warehouse storage. The added outdoor area will allow more room for heavy equipment storage, which is essential as the firm’s emergency response and field service business segment continues to grow. The larger space will better accommodate the steadily increasing size of the company and its growing client base while also enabling it to continue to expand in the future.
“We work very hard to go the extra mile for our clients. Even through our growth, we have managed to maintain the flexibility to provide services to meet the specific needs of each client and associate. We’re certain that our new location will help us maintain this flexibility,” said Robin Melton, EWI President and Owner.
Before buying the new office building, which was the former Sara Lee Corp. spice plant, EWI completed a Phase I environmental assessment on the 29-year-old structure. Melton likes the visibility and central location of the new office as well as the opportunity to reuse an existing structure.
The office move will position the firm closer to the Springfield downtown area where EWI associates have completed many projects as part of the downtown revitalization effort. Environmental Works has performed work such as environmental assessments, asbestos/lead-based paint inspections, and remediation for multiple downtown properties including the Vandivort Center Theatre, Park Central Branch Library, and the Heer’s, Woodruff, and McDaniel buildings.
“Moving into a new office located in the heart of downtown Springfield’s revitalization project is exciting! We will have a front row seat watching downtown growth continue for years to come,” said Melton.
Renovations for the new EWI office will include incorporating “green” features, such as energy-efficient heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, increased natural lighting, built-in recycling bins, and an outdoor green space. Springfield Builders Inc. is the contractor and Jack Ball and Associates is the architect for the project. The telephone and fax numbers for the new Springfield office will remain unchanged.
Environmental Works, Inc. (EWI) is an environmental consulting firm, which has developed a national reputation in the specific field of petroleum storage tank remediation, hazardous waste management, and highly specialized railroad industry services. In addition, EWI performs a broad range of environmental services from subsurface investigations to due-diligence assessments. The firm quickly became an industry leader with an impressive list of clients including BNSF Railway Company, Bass Pro Shops, Inc., Commerce Bank, Tracker Marine, Alcatel-Lucent Technologies and a host of other local and regional companies.
