Various Structures - Locations across the U.S.

Project Description
Environmental Works, Inc. (EWI) has provided demolition and other related services in support of various improvement projects for a major railway carrier since 2004.  Beginning in 2009, EWI was retained for a System-Wide Demolition Project, which required extended demolition services throughout the entire railway carrier’s system.  Related services also included utility disconnects, asbestos notifications, and site preparation for future use.

Relevant project experience is further summarized below:

  • Railroad Diesel Shop - EWI completed this approximately 100,000 square foot multi-story building demolition.  The building consisted of primarily brick and steel construction.  EWI used heavy tracked machinery to tear down and recycle concrete and steel on-site.  The project was completed in a timely manner and within budget for the railway carrier.  In addition, EWI applied discreet and strategic demolition tactics to maintain positive public relations.

  • Railroad Depot  - EWI performed demolition of this 7,500 square foot depot building.  A major communication building located within inches of the depot building needed to be saved in order to control all railway carrier communications in that area.  EWI completed demolition of the depot building without any existing structure damage or lost communication.  Once again, EWI used heavy tracked machinery to complete the project under time and budget.

  • Railroad Depot  - EWI performed demolition of this 6,400 square foot depot building.  This primarily wood and brick structure required special care because of its proximity to live main line track and existing road.  EWI performed demolition of the depot building without any track downtime, which is extremely important to this major railway carrier.
