State of Missouri Underground Storage Tank Investigation/Remediation and Assessment Services Contract

Project Description
Environmental Works, Inc. (EWI) holds the State of Missouri Underground Storage Tank Investigation/Remediation and Assessment Services Contract.
The scope of work under this contract includes underground storage tank investigation, remediation, and assessment services in regard to petroleum products for MDNR. More specifically, the contract covers four project categories:
- Tank Closure & Excavation
- Site Characterization
- Corrective Action
- Phase I Environmental Site Assessment
Contract categories one, two, and three are performed according to the current Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action Process (MRBCA) for petroleum storage tanks. Relevant project experience is further summarized below:

Baron’s Service Station, Desloge, MO - EWI performed underground storage tank (UST) closure activities at this site. Closure activities included the excavation, venting and cleaning of one 2,000-gallon UST, one 4,000-gallon UST, and one 6,000-gallon UST. Following closure activities, approximately 675 tons of petroleum impacted soil were excavated and disposed of off-site.
- The Former Merle Sharp Station, Marshall, MO - EWI performed contamination source area removal activities at this site. Source area removal included the excavation of 3,460 tons of petroleum impacted soil. During excavation, three previously closed in place USTs were encountered and two were removed with the soil excavation.
