Our History Guides Our Future
In September 1992, Robin Melton founded Environmental Works, Inc. (EWI) at her kitchen table in Springfield, Missouri. Robin worked with clients like Bass Pro Shops, completing all field work, consulting, report writing, and office administration on her own. As word spread in Springfield about the small, friendly business, EWI’s client base expanded and history was being made. Originally providing environmental services to a small handful of lenders, realtors, and businesses in the Springfield area, EWI began providing services to larger companies and manufacturing facilities across Missouri and Kansas.
On September 15, 2012, EWI endured the great loss of Robin, our Founder, Owner, and President. She was a devoted company owner, community leader, and friend to many. She was also an incredibly talented business person and was always prepared for any event. She even had a plan in place for these circumstances and her plan was executed as she intended. In accordance with Robin’s plan, EWI named its first Board of Directors.
On June 5, 2013, the management team that served on the Board of Directors purchased the company from the Melton Trust. Jason Smith was named as President and Jamie Sivils was named as CEO. Since the purchase date, EWI has experienced an annual growth of more than 30 percent – and that’s just the beginning.
Today, EWI employs more than 250 professionals at offices throughout the central states. We’re proud to be an industry leader, catering to clients including Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s, BNSF Railway Company, Exxon Mobile, Honeywell, Tyson, and Walmart, just to name a few.
